BOARD OF SELECTMEN

SPECIAL MEETING                                                                                                                    SEPT. 11, 2006
TOWN OFFICE BUILDING                                                                                                              5:00 P.M.

First Selectman Eldredge called the meeting to order at 5:00 P.M. with the following in attendance:  Selectmen Patton and Lewis, L. Nicholls and residents.

PUBLIC WORKS
The Board signed invoices, bills and vacation requests.  Selectman Patton asked if the electric usage at the garage could be checked to see if there has been a savings since we did the energy saving lighting?  Lynn will look into this.  Lynn commented we will go out to bid to sell the small dump truck later this year.  Selectman Lewis asked how are we doing with gas.  Lynn commented we are ordering 500 gallons at a time.  Selectman Lewis commented if we strike a deal with a local gas station we might do better.  Lynn has received bids on the tires for the Ford tractor but they are not for tubeless tires.  She will call all the bidders.  Lynn has given the Public Works inventory list to Donna Latincsics.  Paving on Turnpike road will begin this week, crack sealing started today and chip sealing will start Wed.  Once chip sealing is done the push should be over.  There has been a major problem around Town with signs and driving on lawns.  Lynn gave the Board a copy of an F.O.I.
request she received.  This was discussed and will be handled.  Sand bids will be in soon.  Selectman Patton commented Bob White contacted him and he went up to Michalec Road.  Mr. White has some valid points; there is a lot of run off on to his property.  Selectman Patton commented he would like Karl Acimovic to look at it.  Lynn commented we would need his approval to do the work.  Selectman Patton commented the catch basin needs to be done also; if we do something with this road we should actually lower it.  Lynn commented she is worried about a wash out if we lower it; we do have money set aside we should do it.
